PARENTS STEP UP TO THE PLATE AGAIN – THANK YOU!
The Vail School District would like to thank parents and community members for their continued generosity. Students are not required to furnish all of their own school supplies, but donations are always welcome. This year parents took advantage of bargains and purchased extras to donate to their children’s schools. Many donations have been well above any expectations. When parents help out so much with supplies, teachers are able to use their funds on other instructional supplies that will be of great benefit to their students.
Elba Herd, 2nd grade teacher at Senita Valley Elementary School said, “The outpouring of generosity in our economic times has been overwhelming. Not only did we receive what we asked for, the parents went well above and beyond. We are very touched. I mentioned at our open house that my 2nd grade class was in need of erasers as we work on penmanship. We had only 12 for our 28 students. The very next day we got a shipment of 80 erasers, and 80 more came the following day. We also received a shipment from Office Max for a case of paper, electric pencil sharpeners, and more. We were all so grateful for the generosity and support.”
Again, Vail parents and community members have sent a message that education is a top priority in Vail. The district greatly appreciates that message and the generous support it continually receives from parents and the community.
